Al-Sadr Emphasizes Control of Weapons in Army Day Message


Baghdad: The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, extended his congratulations to the nation’s army on the occasion of Army Day while reiterating his call for the restriction of weapons to the army and official security forces.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sadr expressed his congratulations in a statement, addressing the army’s leaders and personnel across various formations. He emphasized the importance of steadfastness in their duty to love and protect the homeland and its people. Al-Sadr invoked divine protection against the threats of corruption and foreign influence, wishing for the army to remain committed and free in their patriotic duties.



Al-Sadr further emphasized his stance on weapon control, urging for arms to be limited to official military and security institutions. He strongly opposed the presence of unregulated weapons and groups, reinforcing the need for a unified and controlled approach to national security.
