BAGHDAD: The Al-Siyada Party has announced plans to convene an extraordinary meeting with Sunni forces and parties to address the ongoing issue of appointing a new Speaker of Parliament. This initiative aims to unify Sunni political forces in selecting a candidate who represents their majority.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Al-Siyada Party has engaged in extensive discussions and contacts with leaders of Sunni Arab political forces and blocs over the past days. The party is set to send official invitations to these leaders, encouraging their participation in the meeting scheduled to take place in Baghdad within the next two days. The agenda will focus on the internal Sunni political landscape and the critical task of selecting a Speaker of Parliament who aligns with the aspirations of the Sunni populace.

The party’s statement emphasized the importance of consensus, urging political partners to respect the Sunni majority’s choice and refrain from holding any parliamentary session to elect a Sp
