Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani welcomed Major General Hassan Azza Shuqair, Director of the Lebanese General Security Service, to discuss the enhancement of security cooperation between Iraq and Lebanon. The meeting focused on reviewing the current security landscape and exploring avenues for strengthening bilateral ties.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions included an emphasis on combating organized and cross-border crime. Both leaders deliberated on expanding their collaborative efforts in tackling drug trafficking, human trafficking, and enhancing cybersecurity measures.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted the critical need for improved technical and intelligence communication between the security agencies of Iraq and Lebanon. He stressed that such cooperation is pivotal for the effective exchange of information and ensuring that criminal activities do not go unpunished. Moreover, Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to supporting Lebanon and its citizens across various domains.
