Baghdad: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has ordered the integration of more members of the Christian community into the local police force in Nineveh Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief, Sabah al-Numan, stated that this initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to support stability and reconstruction in various regions of Iraq, including the historically and culturally significant Nineveh Plain. The decision aims to enhance security and rebuilding efforts in the region by incorporating Christian members who have been accepted over the past two years into various police training institutions.

Al-Numan emphasized that this move reflects the government’s dedication to fostering strong relationships between local communities and security institutions while preserving the Christian presence in Mesopotamia. This effort aligns with the government’s commitment to establishing stability in the Nineveh Plains and supporting the diverse cultural and social heritage of the Chaldean, Assyrian, and Syriac populations. The government is focused on rebuilding affected areas, implementing projects for displaced and returning families, halting migration, and providing essential services.

The inclusion of Christian community members in the security forces is seen as a crucial step in reinforcing national unity and respecting Iraq’s diversity.
