Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has directed the implementation of infrastructure in tandem with the New Sadr City project and its components. Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the Higher Committee for the New Sadr City Project, where progress was reviewed following the commencement of the project’s service infrastructure.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting examined the optimal economic model for implementing residential buildings, including their architectural and urban distribution. The first phase of the New Sadr City project will feature 11,000 housing units. Discussions also included key service projects such as the city’s power station, its integration with the national grid, and its implementation plan.

Plans for communications, water, and sewage networks were thoroughly reviewed, focusing on their connection to existing lines and operating networks. The meeting also addressed the crucial details of linking the city’s location and streets to Baghdad’s road network, with particular emphasis on connections to the Baghdad Metro and the Fourth and Fifth Ring Roads.

The Prime Minister instructed that infrastructure components be implemented in parallel with the project components. Additionally, he mandated the submission of a monthly report summarizing the progress made in implementing all components and annexes of the new city project.
