Al-Sudani Emphasizes Commitment to Addressing Citizen Appeals Across Society


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has affirmed the government’s commitment to addressing appeals concerning the rights of all citizens across various societal segments. The government is actively working to fulfill these duties.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office revealed that the Prime Minister recently met with representatives of retired military officers, wounded members of the armed forces, families of Popular Mobilization Forces martyrs, and prisoners of war from the 1991 conflict. During this meeting, he listened to their demands and appeals, focusing on the legal and administrative issues related to adjusting their conditions and securing their rights. Al-Sudani expressed his dedication to monitoring citizens’ affairs through state institutions and media outlets.



The Prime Minister reiterated that addressing appeals concerning citizens’ rights is a governmental duty. He highlighted the importance of responding to pending cases in line with the law and ensuring that rights and dues are fulfilled. Al-Sudani instructed the Retirement Authority to expedite the payment of financial dues and ensure their inclusion in the 2026 budget. Additionally, he emphasized the need to follow legal mechanisms for disbursing rightful entitlements.



In addressing the families of Popular Mobilization Forces martyrs, Al-Sudani directed the National Retirement Authority to align their retirement salary differences with those of their peers still in service. For former army retirees, he instructed the Ministry of Defense to audit their entitlements for inclusion in financial allocations, covering salaries from 2003 through September 2025. Emergency and retirement salary differences are to be included in the 2026 budget law.



Furthermore, concerning prisoners of war from the 1991 Gulf War, Al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Defense to advance their retirement applications and submit them to the National Base Authority.
