Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has directed the establishment of an investigative committee to address grievances from farmers in the al-Dora area. This directive comes in the wake of various complaints regarding issues faced by the agricultural community.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister's media office released a statement highlighting the emphasis placed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, on addressing the aftermath of a violent incident at an agricultural department in the Karkh area. This incident led to the arrest of a former director, who was implicated in seeking assistance from armed groups, thereby unveiling his violations and corruption. In response to the numerous complaints received, the Prime Minister mandated the formation of this committee.

The statement further elaborated that the investigative committee, led by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Supreme Audit, includes representatives from the Federal Integrity Commission and the Prime Minister's Office. The committee's primary role is to investigate and assess the grievances and challenges faced by farmers and cultivators in the al-Dora area and the surrounding regions of Baghdad Governorate. They are tasked with submitting their findings to the Prime Minister's Office to facilitate legal action against any instances of encroachment or unlawful seizure of agricultural land from farmers and cultivators.
