Baghdad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani received today, Tuesday, the President of the Tamayouz Award for Global Architectural Excellence, architect Ahmed Al-Malak, accompanied by Iraqi architect Manhal Al-Haboubi and Jordanian architect Asid Al-Aytan. During the meeting, discussions focused on preparations for hosting the Arab Architecture Festival in Baghdad next October. The festival is organized by the foundation under the patronage of the Prime Minister and marks a first-of-its-kind event celebrating Baghdad’s selection as the Arab Tourism Capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani highlighted the importance of such events in supporting creativity and providing modern solutions to the challenges facing developing cities. He emphasized that they serve as an opportunity to showcase and develop Iraq’s architectural heritage, highlight its depth and cultural significance, and draw attention to the urban, economic, and cultural developments currently taking place in Baghdad and other
Iraqi cities.

It is noteworthy that the Tamayouz Award Foundation was established in the United Kingdom in 2012, with the late architect Zaha Hadid chairing its judging panel. Since then, it has evolved into a prominent global initiative in architecture, supporting outstanding Arab architects. The upcoming festival in Baghdad will be the largest event in the history of Iraqi architecture.
