Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, to address regional developments and mutual concerns. The dialogue focused on promoting stability and peace across the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during their meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized the critical need for a consolidated ceasefire and the importance of sustaining regional peace. He urged for a collective regional and international effort to break the cycle of violence and prevent further destruction and suffering. Furthermore, Al-Sudani highlighted the necessity to stop the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip and to facilitate the delivery of aid to Palestinians in the besieged area.

Mohammed Al-Hassan, representing the UN, expressed gratitude from the UN Secretary-General for the Iraqi government’s role and Al-Sudani’s effective policies, which have shielded Iraq from escalating tensions. He acknowledged Iraq’s contributions to regional security and stability. Al-Hassan reiterated the UN’s commitment, alongside entities such as the UN Security Council, to reinforcing the ceasefire and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches the people of Gaza.
