Al-Sudani Sponsors General Conference of Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the crucial role of Iraqi tribes in the country's history and governance, stating that they have been a fundamental pillar of the Iraqi state since its inception. During his speech at the General Conference of the Sheikhs of All Iraqi Tribes, al-Sudani highlighted the significance of the 1920 tribal revolution in establishing the modern state of Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani outlined that a significant portion of the government's program is dedicated to the tribes, acknowledging their support in ensuring the success of the state's service efforts. He urged the tribes to back the government's comprehensive reform initiatives aimed at transforming Iraq's present and future, emphasizing the need for their continued support in upholding state laws.

Al-Sudani also announced the government's launch of extensive economic reforms to address previous mismanagement of resources. This includes the initiation of modern irrigation projects, supplying farmers with necessary resources, and ensuring their due payments. Furthermore, he noted the government's focus on the industrial sector, with plans to localize factories under the "Made in Iraq" initiative and investments in significant regional and global projects like the "Development Road."

Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari also commended the Iraqi tribes for their ongoing support of Iraq's security and stability. He acknowledged that the tribes have been central to maintaining security, stressing the shared responsibility of all citizens in this endeavor. Al-Shammari highlighted that the Prime Minister's government places great importance on the tribes within its program, particularly concerning security and service provision.
