Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized the urgent need to restart oil production and export activities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He called for oil companies operating in the region to resume their operations and facilitate the re-export of oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani highlighted this priority during a meeting with Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region. A statement from Al-Sudani’s media office noted the significance of implementing joint agreements, particularly in the context of the House of Representatives’ recent amendment to the General Federal Budget Law. Al-Sudani underscored that these actions would serve the national interest, bolster the Iraqi economy, and fulfill the needs of the citizens. He reiterated the necessity of accelerating the resumption of oil production and export through Ceyhan.

Barzani, on his part, affirmed the ongoing communication and cooperation with the federal government. He emphasized high-level coordination in service and economic areas to support development, service delivery, and stability consolidation.

The meeting also covered key national issues and reviewed the progress of government program implementation across various sectors.
