Al-Sudani Urges Taji Tribes to Participate in Elections, Highlights Government Achievements


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has urged the sheikhs of the Taji tribes to participate in upcoming elections, emphasizing that failure to do so would deny citizens their fundamental right to choose their representatives.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani, during a meeting with the Taji tribal leaders north of Baghdad, expressed his appreciation for Representative Alia Nassif’s continuous efforts in addressing citizens’ concerns. He highlighted the cohesive nature of Iraqi society, which has successfully overcome divisions through the wisdom of its diverse communities, including the influential Arab tribes.

Al-Sudani reiterated that active electoral participation and selecting qualified candidates are crucial for Iraq’s ongoing reconstruction and development. His government, formed nearly three years ago, has prioritized restoring the relationship between the state and its citizens by focusing on essential services and stability. The Prime Minister detailed the completion o
f 511 projects in Baghdad and other governorates, addressing over 2,358 stalled initiatives valued at 131 trillion dinars, including significant infrastructure developments like hospitals and traffic alleviation projects.

The government has also made strides in enhancing Baghdad’s infrastructure, focusing on the city’s entrances and outer areas. Al-Sudani emphasized comprehensive reforms in the economic sector, notably achieving self-sufficiency in fuel and saving Iraq significant sums previously spent on gas imports. He underscored the importance of maintaining security and stability in collaboration with tribal leaders and combating societal threats such as drug abuse.

Furthermore, al-Sudani highlighted efforts to create job opportunities for youth and graduates through strategic partnerships and projects. He noted Iraq’s emergence as a favorable investment environment, attracting interest from Arab and foreign companies.
