Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi declared on Monday that Iraq is set to achieve full sovereignty over its entire territory by September 30, expressing gratitude to the Supreme Religious Authority in Najaf and various religious institutions for their emphasis on maintaining Iraq’s security.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi made this announcement during a ceremony organized by the Sunni Endowment in Baghdad to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). During his speech, the Prime Minister extended congratulations to the Muslim nation and the Iraqi people on this auspicious occasion, highlighting the significance of the Prophet’s birth as a representation of the message of Islam. Al-Zaidi emphasized the Prophet’s embodiment of noble qualities and virtuous morals that have historically strengthened human values both spiritually and materially.

The Prime Minister reflected on his government’s commitment to building a fully sovereign Iraq, emphasizing respect, dignity, and security for its citizens. He outlined the government’s program that focuses on construction, reform, combating corruption, and strengthening security institutions under the constitutional framework. Al-Zaidi acknowledged the critical role of religious authorities in advocating for Iraq’s security, social cohesion, and the equitable application of law.

Al-Zaidi also announced that the withdrawal of international coalition forces is expected to be completed by September 30, marking a significant milestone in Iraq’s assertion of sovereignty over its territory. He stressed Iraq’s commitment to not becoming a platform for harming others and expressed a desire for unity among Arab and Islamic nations, drawing inspiration from the Prophet’s teachings to achieve common goals and interests.
