Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi arrived in the Qatari capital to offer his condolences to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the passing of his father, the late Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the prime minister's visit underscores the close ties between Iraq and Qatar, as well as the region's traditional practices of paying respects in times of mourning. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who led Qatar from 1995 to 2013, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of significant development and transformation in the nation.

The visit by al-Zaidi is part of a series of international condolences extended to the Qatari royal family, highlighting the late Emir's influence and the respect he commanded on the global stage.
