Tehran: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed Iraq’s commitment to building the best possible relations with Iran. During his meeting with the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, al-Zaidi stated, “The Iraqi government is ready for joint cooperation with Iran in various fields and sectors, particularly the economic sector.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office highlighted that the two sides discussed strengthening relations between their countries and enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially the judicial sector. The role of the judiciary in supporting and consolidating stability was emphasized during the discussions.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed Iraq’s keenness to build the best possible relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government’s readiness for joint cooperation in various fields and sectors. This cooperation, particularly in the economic sector, aims to serve the interests of both countries and the prosperity of their peoples.

Al-Zaidi emphasized that “Iraq has always been and remains a forum for dialogue and resolving disputes throughout the region,” underscoring the importance of seizing the current opportunity and pushing for de-escalation through dialogue.

For his part, Ejei pointed to the religious, historical, and social commonalities between Iraq and Iran, praising the Iraqi government’s steps and measures in combating corruption. He affirmed that “Iran has experience in fighting corruption and is ready to cooperate in this field.” Ejei also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Iraqi people for their noble stance in the funeral procession of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei.
