Rabat: The Algerian national team has qualified for the Women's World Cup after reaching the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations. The Algerian women's national team secured their first-ever qualification for the World Cup by achieving a historic victory over Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations, which is being held in Morocco. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Algeria advanced to the semi-finals for the first time after overturning a deficit to defeat Ivory Coast 2-1 on Saturday. The match saw Ivory Coast take the lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Ines Konan. However, the Ivorian team faced a setback when young player Nassira Ouedraogo was expelled before the first half concluded. Algeria's comeback began with substitute Ines Khairi equalizing in the 58th minute, followed by Amira Ould Brahim scoring the decisive second goal in the 64th minute to seal the victory. This win not only secured their place in the semi-finals but also earned them a spot in the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted by Brazil next year. The Algerian team is set to face the winner of the Malawi-Ghana match in the semi-finals, which is scheduled for Sunday. Meanwhile, the quarter-final matches will see hosts Morocco play against South Africa in Rabat, and defending champions Nigeria will meet Cameroon, before Ghana takes on Malawi.
