Basra: Basra Police arrested an arms dealer and seized weapons in his possession.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command Media Department stated in a statement today that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime. The operation was executed by the officers of al-Qibla Police Station, in collaboration with the department’s intelligence unit, and led to the successful capture of an arms dealer in Basra Governorate.
The statement detailed that the arrest was the result of accurate intelligence, which allowed the authorities to pinpoint the suspect’s location. The suspect was apprehended, and three pistols intended for illegal trade were seized during the raid.
The department highlighted that the accused is considered a significant threat due to his active role in the arms trade. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him under the provisions of the Arms Law.
