Baghdad: The head coach of the Iraqi national team, Graham Arnold, alongside midfielder Ibrahim Bayesh, has expressed full confidence in the team’s readiness for the decisive match against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. This match forms part of the Asian playoff qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Arnold addressed the media during the pre-match press conference, emphasizing the pressure faced by the Saudi national team. He stated, “The Saudi national team will be under great pressure from both the media and the fans, unlike us.” With Saudi Arabia having two opportunities to qualify, Arnold noted that this increases their stress, while Iraq’s sole focus remains on securing a win.
Arnold further discussed potential strategic changes, indicating a willingness to alter the lineup that played against Indonesia. “I can play with a completely different lineup from the one that faced Indonesia, as we didn’t reveal all our cards in the previous match,” he explained.

Bayesh also expressed gratitude towards the fans, concluding, “We hope to fulfill the dreams of our fans, who continue to support us, by winning tomorrow’s match and clinching qualification.”
