Basra: More than 30 paintings depicting the epic of Karbala are on display at an art exhibition in Basra. The Palace of Culture and Arts in Basra, in cooperation with the Thaghr Al-Fayhaa Foundation, the Young Talents for Fine Arts Group, and the Mishkat (Art) Group, and with logistical support from Shanashil Radio, held a two-day art exhibition entitled “Colors of Karbala.” The exhibition featured more than thirty paintings depicting the epic of Karbala in its heroic and humanitarian dimensions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Basim Hussein Ghalab, Director of the Palace of Culture and Arts in Basra, stated that the exhibition addressed the events of Karbala through a distinctive artistic vision, showcasing the artists’ creativity in more than thirty paintings that reflected the human and heroic values embodied in the epic of Karbala. He added that the exhibition is part of the cultural and literary programs organized by the Palace, aimed at supporting and revitalizing the cultural and artistic scene in Basra Governorate.

For his part, the director of the Thaghr Al-Fayhaa Foundation, writer Jassim Al-Muhammadawi, emphasized the importance of holding the exhibition at this time, coinciding with the millions-strong march commemorating the Arba’een of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He indicated that the exhibition would become an annual tradition held on this occasion, with the participation of artists from the province.

Writer Alaa Al-Marqab considered the exhibition part of a series of cultural events organized by the Thaghr Al-Fayhaa Foundation for Culture and Media in cooperation with the Palace of Culture and Arts in Basra. The head of the Young Talents for Fine Arts group, artist Ali Al-Quraishi, expressed his delight at collaborating with the Palace of Culture to hold the exhibition, affirming the group’s commitment to implementing more joint artistic events in the coming period.

The head of the Mishkat (Art) Fine Arts group also expressed the group members’ pride in participating in the “Colors of Karbala” exhibition, appreciating the cooperation and support provided by the Palace of Culture and Arts in making this event a success.
