Asayish and Iraqi Security Forces Capture Five ISIS Terrorists in Coordinated Operations

Kirkuk: Kurdish security forces, known as Asayish, announced the successful capture of five individuals identified as "terrorists" in a collaborative operation with Iraqi security services.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the General Directorate of Asayish Operations, leveraging intelligence and coordinated efforts with the central government's security services, managed to dismantle several ISIS hideouts and arrest five members of the organization. The operations were carried out in two major phases.

In the first operation, the General Directorate of Asayish Operations, working alongside the Iraqi Military Intelligence Directorate, targeted the ISIS hideouts within the borders of Kirkuk Governorate, specifically in the Jwalpur area. On April 29, 2025, the area was thoroughly combed, resulting in the destruction of ISIS encampments and the seizure of various materials and documents.

The second phase of operations spanned from April 30 to May 4, 2025. During this period, the General Directorate of Asayish Operations, informed by continuous intelligence and surveillance, conducted multiple operations leading to the arrest of five active ISIS elements. These arrests occurred within the regions of Klar, Chamchamal, Halabja, and Sulaymaniyah. The apprehended individuals were identified as wanted under Articles 2 and 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law.
