Baghdad: The General Authority of Customs announced on Tuesday the seizure of more than 1,000 iPhone 17 mobile phones hidden inside a truck at the Al-Shaab checkpoint, northeast of Baghdad, thwarting an attempt to smuggle them.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Authority stated in a press release, “In a new qualitative blow within its oversight efforts to combat smuggling, the Investigation and Anti-Smuggling Department of the General Authority of Customs, acting on information from the National Security Service, seized (1,004) iPhone 17 mobile phones hidden inside a truck at the Al-Shaab checkpoint, in an attempt to bring them into the country in violation of applicable customs regulations and instructions.”

The statement added that “the seizure operation was the result of joint efforts and security and oversight coordination, where the quantity was discovered and the necessary legal measures were taken against it in accordance with applicable laws and instructions.”
