Babil: The Babil Council, during an extraordinary session at the Babil Resort, has made a significant decision to provide transportation for participants in the funeral procession of Imam Khamenei. The council has instructed the Ministry of Transport and the Private Transport Authority to ensure transportation means are available for this solemn event.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the Babil Provincial Council, Asaad al-Muslawi, emphasized the session's focus on discussing security and logistical arrangements for the funeral of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei. Held in the Ahmed Susa Hall at the Babil Resort, the meeting included key figures such as the Governor of Babil, Ali Turki al-Jamali, along with security officials, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, directors of service and health departments, and representatives from both public and private universities. The primary aim was to develop a comprehensive plan for the funeral processions set to take place in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.
The session concluded with several critical decisions and recommendations. Notably, it was decided to suspend official working hours for all departments, excluding security and service departments, on Wednesday and Thursday of the following week. This suspension aims to allow the residents of the province to actively engage in the funeral processions. Furthermore, a joint operations room will be established, led by the chairman of the council's security committee. It will include representatives from security, service, and health departments, as well as the Husseini processions, to oversee organizational details, supervise participant transportation, and ensure their safety.
Additionally, instructions were given to facilitate transportation. The council directed the relevant departments to provide vehicles to transport participants between Babylon Governorate and the Najaf and Karbala Governorates. This initiative is designed to ease the movement of visitors and ensure their timely arrival at the ceremonial sites.
