Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate recently launched a comprehensive field inspection campaign focusing on various industrial activities around the Bismayah residential complex. This initiative forms part of the committee’s efforts, established under Diwani Order No. (241285) and led by the Baghdad Operations Command, to ensure environmental compliance and address residents’ concerns.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director of the Baghdad Environment Directorate, Sadiq Hatem Al-Moussawi, stated that the campaign was a collaborative effort involving the National Security Service, the Rusafa Environmental Police, and the Federal Police. The campaign included rigorous field inspections of numerous sites and industrial operations in the vicinity.
Al-Moussawi noted that the inspection teams conducted their evaluations until midnight, identifying and documenting several environmental violations. These findings will facilitate legal actions against the activities that fail to comply with existing environmental laws and regulations.
Furthermore, Al-Moussawi emphasized the commitment of the Baghdad Environment Directorate to continue these monitoring campaigns. By coordinating with relevant agencies, the Directorate aims to strengthen oversight of industrial activities, mitigate pollution sources, and ultimately contribute to environmental protection and public health.
