Baghdad: The Cultural Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Fadhil al-Badrani, confirmed on Tuesday that the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair will witness its largest participation in years, with 28 Arab and foreign countries taking part. Al-Badrani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair will open tomorrow, Wednesday.”

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Culture is organizing the 27th edition of the International Book Fair this year, which will see the largest participation in years, with 28 countries participating, including 17 Arab countries and 11 foreign countries. The foreign participants include publishing houses from the United States, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, in addition to Turkey and Iran.

The fair will be held from September 2nd to 12th and will include various cultural events, including a comprehensive seminar on the activities of the Ministry of Culture, in which the Minister of Culture will speak, as well as seminars by the Ministries of Trade and Environment. Preparations have been completed and are ready for the launch of the fair’s activities.

The participating publishing houses will present a diverse range of publications focusing on short stories, novels, and political, social, and intellectual works. The Ministry of Culture will participate with a special pavilion showcasing publications from its various departments. The pavilion will include publications from Dar Al-Ma’mun for Translation and Publishing, the Children’s Culture House, the Department of Studies at the Antiquities and Heritage Authority, the Heritage Institute of the General Arts, and the Kurdish Culture and Publishing House, as well as other departments affiliated with the Ministry.

The Ministry’s participation has focused on its own publications and areas of specialization, with the aim of enriching the cultural, intellectual, and artistic aspects of the exhibition.
