Baghdad: The Head of the Iraqi-British Business Council, Baroness Emma Nicholson, emphasized the crucial role that government efforts play in fostering foreign investment to bolster the national economy. Speaking at the economic conference of the Iraqi-British Business Council in Baghdad, she highlighted the stability provided by the current government and its support for the private sector, which she believes are key factors in encouraging international investment and infrastructure projects.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Baroness Nicholson remarked on the shared optimism between the Iraqi-British Business Council and the World Bank regarding Iraq's economic prospects. The conference marked the first of its kind in Baghdad since the establishment of the current government, aiming to explore how Iraq can cultivate a more modern economy through innovative business activities.
Baroness Nicholson also acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani in facilitating the conference. She noted her recent meeting with the Prime Minister in the United Kingdom, which included Iraqi ministers and over 280 foreign trade contacts. The discussions underscored the United Kingdom's dedication to enhancing its economic ties with Iraq, as well as its efforts to remove Iraq from the red list.
