Basra: Basra Airport received seven Kuwaiti planes that made emergency landings. The Ministry of Transport announced today that Basra Airport efficiently managed the situation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the aircraft were forced to make emergency landings due to severe weather conditions in Kuwait. Dense fog reduced horizontal visibility, preventing the planes from landing safely in Kuwait.

The ministry’s press release elaborated that the landings at Basra International Airport were carried out under the second freedom of civil aviation rights, known as Technical Stop. The flights and passengers were accommodated smoothly alongside the airport’s scheduled operations, facilitated by effective coordination among the airport’s various departments.

Basra International Airport remains highly efficient and prepared to handle any emergency situation, ensuring passenger safety and the uninterrupted continuation of air traffic. The Iraqi Airports Authority has confirmed that the country’s airports are equipped to receive both scheduled and emergency landings, boasting well-trained staff and world-class navigation equipment.

This incident follows a similar event a few days prior, during which Basra Airport received nine Kuwaiti aircraft under the same circumstances. This continuous preparedness highlights the airport’s capability in managing emergency situations efficiently.
