Basra Environment Department Inspects Al-Madina Biological Treatment Plant

Basra: The Basra Environment Department is actively monitoring the performance of the biological treatment plant located in the Al-Madina district, north of Basra Governorate. A recent field inspection was conducted by the Basra Environment Directorate to ensure the plant’s compliance with environmental standards and to evaluate the efficiency of its treatment processes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directorate’s monitoring teams coordinated with the head of the treatment unit to gather data and information about the plant’s operations. They reviewed the stages and mechanisms of operation and collected water samples both before and after the treatment process. These samples were sent to the directorate’s laboratories for testing to verify their conformity with approved environmental standards.

The directorate emphasized that these follow-up procedures are part of the Southern Region’s Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement’s broader plan. This plan aims to enhance field monitoring and utilize data and laboratory results to assess the environmental situation. The initiative is designed to contribute to reducing pollution sources and protecting water and environmental resources.
