Basra: The local government in Basra engaged in discussions with security leaders and relevant authorities today to finalize plans for the upcoming population census, scheduled for the twentieth of this month. The meeting focused on the latest preparations and procedures necessary for the successful execution of the census.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was chaired by the governor of Basra, Asaad Abdul Amir Al-Eidani, and attended by the two deputy governors, the head of the security committee in the Basra Council, Aqil Talib Al-Furaiji, along with leaders from security and traffic services, directors of administrative units, and officials from service departments. Governor Al-Eidani emphasized the local government’s commitment to ensuring the success of the census, which is crucial for accurately determining the population growth in the governorate and documenting Basra’s entitlements in the budget.

The deliberative meeting at the local government headquarters addressed the key requi
rements for the census procedures, including the movement mechanism during the census period. It was decided that specific parties, such as the security services, health, and electricity departments, will be permitted to move freely during the census activities.
