Basra: Al-Kunuz University College in Basra has organized its second international forum aiming to promote awareness values inspired by the Husseini renaissance. The event, held under the slogan “(From Karbala spring the values of moral, intellectual, social, and human awareness),” saw the participation of the Deputy Governor of Basra, Hassan Thahir Al-Najjar, representing the Governor, and the University President, Dr. Youssef Al-Asadi. A select group of university professors and academics also attended the forum.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Deputy Governor Al-Najjar highlighted the dual dimensions of Imam Hussein’s revolution. The first dimension evokes feelings of sorrow for the events in Karbala, while the second focuses on the potential academic studies and research that can benefit from these events to consolidate moral, intellectual, social, and human awareness values. He emphasized that holding the forum in conjunction with the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s martyrdom reflects the reformative and nation-building message of the Husseini movement. Al-Najjar stressed the importance of drawing inspiration from the Husseini revival to address societal issues such as corruption and moral deviation.

University President Dr. Youssef Al-Asadi stated that the forum serves as a platform to employ academic, cultural, and intellectual visions in highlighting the humanitarian and reformist dimension of Imam Hussein’s uprising. The forum aims to enhance awareness among university students and instill values of dignity, justice, belonging, and social responsibility through scholarly dialogue and cultural and intellectual activities. Dr. Al-Asadi further elaborated that universities play a crucial role beyond education by building individuals and shaping awareness. By drawing inspiration from the Husseini uprising’s reformist values, universities can connect these values to societal issues, thereby strengthening the culture of citizenship, responsibility, and ethical commitment.
