Basra Journalists Syndicate Partners with Security Forces to Safeguard Freedom of Expression

Basra: The head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate branch in Basra, Sadiq Al-Ali, affirmed the existence of a genuine partnership to protect freedom of expression and enhance the city's security by strengthening communication and cooperation between security institutions and the press.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a visit by a delegation of journalists to the Basra Operations Command and their meeting with the new commander, Major General Atheer Al-Rubaie, Al-Ali stated that the visit underscores the Basra branch's commitment not only to defending journalists' rights but also to building robust institutional relationships with various state agencies.

He added that these relationships contribute to creating a safer, freer, and more respectful environment for journalistic work and enhance Basra's standing as a city of media and culture. He emphasized the importance of continued communication and coordination between security institutions and the press in service of the public interest.

The syndicate delegation included a number of prominent journalists, correspondents from satellite channels and news agencies, and the provincial media director, Ali Youssef.
