Basra: Basra Governorate today lost the virtuous educator of generations, the dean of Abu Al-Khaseeb, and its historian, Professor Yassin Saleh Al-Aboud, who passed away at the age of 98.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Aboud was a comprehensive educator and theater artist, born in the village of Bab Suleiman in the Abu Al-Khaseeb district of Basra in 1927. He graduated from the Teachers’ College in Al-A’dhamiyah, Baghdad.

He had been a teacher since 1947 and was a symbol of high morals and refinement as an educator, poet, writer, and historian. He presented numerous artistic works, including plays and operettas, all of which he directed and composed, in addition to numerous hymns. These works were shown on Basra TV and other theaters outside the Abu Al-Khaseeb district.
