Basra: More than one trillion dinars of public funds were wasted, and a parliamentary request was made to stop the sale of scrap iron belonging to the Ministry of Defense. Basra MP Faleh al-Khazali announced that he will submit a formal request to the Prime Minister to halt the sale of approximately 4 million tons of scrap iron belonging to the Ministry of Defense, due to the squandering of public funds amounting to no less than 1.6 trillion dinars.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this move comes as a response to concerns over the significant financial losses incurred by the state. The sale of such a vast quantity of scrap iron has raised alarms about transparency and the potential for further financial mismanagement.
