Baghdad: Minister of Agriculture Abdul Rahim Jassim Al-Shammari met today with several members of parliament and the Director General of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the bank. The aim is to support the agricultural sector and provide better services to farmers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on procedures to facilitate and streamline agricultural loans for farmers, aligning with the government’s efforts to support agricultural production. The discussions emphasized the importance of making loan processes more accessible to farmers, thereby boosting agricultural productivity and sustainability.

The meeting also addressed the issue of rescheduling loans under the agricultural initiative implemented by the Agricultural Cooperative Bank. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden on borrowers, granting them the opportunity to continue with their agricultural and production projects without financial strain.

The Director General of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank highlighted that the bank’s doors are open to farmers and agricultural workers, encouraging them to visit any branch in the governorates to complete transactions and benefit from available financing services. The bank reassured that it continues to offer a comprehensive range of agricultural loans, including those for projects, equipment, machinery, and other activities, across all governorates except the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, adhering to the applicable regulations and instructions.
