Basra: Basra police ended a shooting incident in Al-Dhuwayhirat Square and arrested both parties involved in a brawl in Al-Zubair district.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Governorate Police Command stated in a press release today, “Following a report from the central control room about a shooting incident in Al-Dhuwayhirat Square near Al-Hakim neighborhood – the informal housing area – a joint force was immediately dispatched from Al-Mirbad Police Station, regiments, Al-Zubair Rescue Unit, and the force responsible for regional security in Al-Zubair district.”

The statement added, “After a swift response to the scene, both parties involved in the brawl were arrested. It was determined that the dispute stemmed from a long-standing disagreement between the two parties.” The statement further noted that the operation resulted in the seizure of a pistol and four Kalashnikov rifles from the suspects, and that the necessary legal measures have been taken against them.
