Basra: The Basra Governorate Police Command has successfully uncovered the details of a significant house robbery that occurred in the Umm al-Naaj area of Abu al-Khasib district. The burglary involved the theft of 50 million Iraqi dinars, a Kalashnikov rifle, a pistol, and gold jewelry.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the Command disclosed in a press release that Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha al-Saad, the Basra Governorate Police Chief, promptly dispatched police detachments to the crime scene upon receiving the report. Investigations revealed that the burglars gained entry to the house by cutting through an iron window at the rear of the property.
Further details from the statement indicated a lack of surveillance cameras covering the crime location, which initially complicated the investigation. However, after meticulous information gathering and cross-referencing data on potential suspects, the Abu al-Khasib Anti-Crime Division arrested one of the accused. The suspect confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice, leading to the recovery of the stolen money and items. Legal actions have been initiated against those involved.
