Hilla: The body of a pilgrim was recovered from the Euphrates River south of Hilla. The river police of the Babil Police Command recovered the body of a young man, a pilgrim participating in the Arba’een pilgrimage, from the Euphrates River in the Al-Hashimiyah district, south of Hillah, on Saturday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Babil Police Media Director, Colonel Ammar Al-Shammari, stated, “One of the Arba’een pilgrims, a resident of Nasiriyah Governorate, drowned while swimming in the Euphrates River in the Al-Hashimiyah district, south of Hillah.” He added that the police transferred the body to the forensic medicine department and that an investigation into the incident has been opened.
