Britain and France Focus on Migration and EU-UK Summit in Phone Call

London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron recently engaged in a phone call to discuss pressing issues such as migration and international conditions. The dialogue highlighted the pressing need for increased collaboration between the two nations on these matters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conversation also included discussions on the VE Day commemorations and the upcoming UK-EU summit. Both leaders emphasized the necessity to enhance efforts in combating illegal migration at its source, underscoring the importance of the success of the EU-UK summit scheduled for two weeks from now.

The leaders also anticipated a bilateral summit between the UK and France later this year. They expressed a shared commitment to elevating the level of ambition between their countries across various sectors, including defense, security, and irregular migration. This exchange is part of the UK's broader strategy to recalibrate its trade and diplomatic ties with Europe, following the disruptions caused by BREXIT.
