British Newspaper Reports Ankara Authorities “Unaware” of Attackers on Iraqi Consulate


Istanbul: The British newspaper, The Daily Post, revealed details of an attack on the Iraqi consulate building in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday, confirming that official authorities “do not know” the identity of the perpetrators.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, despite announcing the launch of an investigation into the attack that occurred yesterday, Friday, the Turkish government currently has “no evidence or information about the identity of the party that carried out the attack or its target.”



The newspaper noted that the Turkish authorities, “currently preoccupied” with confronting the intense protest movement sweeping its cities, have been unable to “dedicate” sufficient efforts to pursue the gunmen who attacked the Iraqi consulate building with machine guns, stressing that the attack “violates” all international laws guaranteeing the security of official diplomatic missions.



It is noteworthy that the Iraqi consulate building in Istanbul, Turkey, was attacked by four gunmen on motorcycles, who used machine guns. The attack did not result in any casualties.
