Basra: The Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Committee of the Basra Provincial Council has called on the Ministries of Education and Planning to expedite the establishment of an education directorate in the northern part of the province. This move aims to improve the education sector and streamline procedures for both teachers and citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Committee Chairwoman Wijdan al-Maliki explained in a press statement that establishing the new directorate would address the current staffing constraints within the existing directorate, as well as facilitate the work of educational personnel and expedite the processing of citizens’ transactions.

She noted that the significant increase in the number of schools and students has placed considerable pressure on the existing staff, necessitating urgent administrative and organizational measures commensurate with the expansion of the education sector in the province.

Al-Maliki emphasized that establishing a new education directorate would contribute to distributing workloads, accelerating the completion of transactions, and enhancing field monitoring of educational institutions in northern Basra.

She stressed that supporting the education sector is a priority to ensure a better learning environment for the children of Basra.
