Ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country will begin talks with the United States on a new trade agreement in early May, warning that what he called the trade war waged by President Donald Trump is beginning to impact the Canadian labor market.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Canadian Prime Minister said in statements on Friday that he is working to ensure that the next government is “in the best possible position for negotiations with the United States, which, as the President (Trump) and I agreed, will begin in early May.”
Carney warned that the trade dispute is leading to “tighter financial conditions and early signs of a global economic slowdown” and is having negative effects “on the Canadian labor market.” Canada is the United States’ largest trading partner.
