Fujian: Typhoon Podol hit the coast of Fujian Province, southeast China, for the second time, making landfall at dawn today.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, China Central Television reported that the typhoon was classified as a tropical storm upon arrival, recording wind speeds of up to 30 meters per second near its center. Podol made landfall for the first time in Taitung County in Taiwan, China, yesterday afternoon, Wednesday.

Podul, which is currently hitting China, is classified as Typhoon No. 16W according to U.S. Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) classifications, and also carries the international designation T2511 according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

It is noteworthy that China is usually exposed to an average of 6 to 8 typhoons annually, most of which come from the western Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea, especially in the summer and early autumn, with the most affected areas being the southern and eastern coasts such as Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian, and Taiwan provinces.
