Washington: The US State Department has approved a potential sale of HIMARS missile systems and related equipment worth $500 million to Bahrain. The agreement signifies a strategic enhancement in Bahrain’s defense capabilities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the deal includes four M142 HIMARS systems, three tactical data systems, support equipment, and spare parts, all requested by Bahrain. This acquisition is expected to bolster Bahrain’s defensive measures and its ability to address regional threats effectively.

The primary aim of this deal is to strengthen Bahrain’s capacity to counter threats, protect US facilities and personnel in the region, and facilitate better integration into US-led coalitions. This move is seen as a step towards ensuring stability and security in the area, aligning with broader strategic interests.
