London: The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven major industrialized nations expressed their deep concern over China’s military exercises around Taiwan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a joint statement issued by the British Foreign Office, they said: “We express our deep concern about China’s provocative actions, particularly the recent large-scale military exercises around Taiwan. These increasingly frequent activities lead to instability and escalate tensions in the Taiwan Strait, jeopardizing global security and prosperity.”

The statement emphasized that “the G7 and the international community have an interest in maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” noting that they reject any unilateral actions that threaten this peace and stability, including the use of force or coercion.

The foreign ministers of the G7, which includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, in addition to the European Union, affirmed that they “will continue to encourage the peaceful resolution of issues through constructive dialogue between China and Taiwan.”

Last Wednesday, China announced the conduct of new large-scale military exercises in the Taiwan Strait, dubbed “Strait Thunder 2025A,” one day after conducting military drills around the island of Taiwan.
