Karbala: Civil Defense Directorate teams in the holy city of Karbala extinguished a fire that broke out inside a hall used to accommodate pilgrims during the massive pilgrimages, without any injuries reported.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Directorate indicated that the hall had a sandwich panel roof, which violated safety regulations and had been previously referred to the judiciary. The fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings.

The statement added that a forensic expert was summoned to determine the cause of the fire.
