Basra: The Commander of the Border Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammed Abdul Wahab Sukkar, conducted an inspection tour of the 16th and 10th Brigades responsible for securing the Iraqi-Iranian border strip within the provinces of Basra and Maysan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the inspection tour was accompanied by several directors of departments and divisions, as well as staff officers, as part of an ongoing field follow-up of all areas of responsibility. The first stop of the tour included a visit to the headquarters of the 16th Brigade, where Lieutenant General Sukkar was received by the Deputy Commander of the Fourth Border Region. A security conference was held in the presence of brigade unit commanders, during which activities and operations were reviewed, the security situation was assessed, and key challenges and ways to address them were discussed.

The statement from the Border Forces Command added that the second stop of the tour was in the Hawizeh Marshes, where the Commander of the Third Border Region received Lieutenant General Sukkar. He conducted a field inspection of the progress of the earthen border embankment project being implemented by engineering units in the marshes. The Commander commended the efforts made and emphasized the importance of accelerating the pace of work in accordance with approved technical specifications, given the project’s significant role in enhancing border security and control.
