Gaza: The International Committee for Breaking the Siege on Gaza announced the complete loss of contact with the crew of the “Handhala” ship due to jamming, noting that several drones were hovering near the ship.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the International Committee for Breaking the Siege on Gaza stated: “What we are witnessing means that our crew on the ‘Handhala’ were intercepted or attacked.” This development was further corroborated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which announced on Thursday the loss of contact with the ship while it was en route to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Media reports highlighted that the emergency plan was activated on the “Handhala” ship after it was surrounded by drones. The Freedom Flotilla is an international coalition that was founded in 2010 as part of efforts by international organizations to break the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.

The Handhala is a Norwegian fishing vessel built in 1968. Formerly known as the Navarn, it joined t
he Freedom Flotilla in 2023. Measuring approximately 18 meters in length, it is powered by a diesel engine and constructed to navigate Mediterranean waters.

The ship has been part of numerous solidarity initiatives globally, most notably on July 13, 2025, when it set sail from Italy under the slogan “For the Children of Gaza.”
