Baghdad: The Coordination Framework has underscored the critical need for the Iraqi government to actively engage with and follow up on the outcomes of the recent emergency Arab and Islamic summit held in Doha.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Coordination Framework’s media department indicated that a regular meeting was held at Dr. Haider al-Abadi’s office. The meeting focused on the current national and regional situations, emphasizing the entitlements and challenges that necessitate collective national efforts and unified stances.
The statement highlighted discussions on the emergency summit’s outcomes, where participants stressed the Iraqi government’s role in implementing these outcomes across international and regional platforms. This is seen as a means to curb ongoing violations by the Zionist entity against Palestinians and to rally humanitarian and political support for their cause.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the upcoming elections, with attendees emphasizing the importance of holding them on the constitutional date. They discussed creating a conducive environment to ensure the elections’ success, transparency, and integrity, which are seen as vital for bolstering citizens’ trust and the democratic process.
The Coordination Framework expressed concern over the rising sectarian rhetoric in some public discourses, warning of its potential impact on civil peace and national unity. It stressed that safeguarding Iraq’s social fabric is a national priority, requiring a collective effort from political, media, and religious entities.
Furthermore, the Coordination Framework extended its congratulations to First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi on his recent election as President of the Asian-African Parliament.
