Coordination Framework Insists on Adhering to Legislative Election Timeline

Baghdad: The Coordination Framework has emphasized the importance of holding the legislative elections as planned, underscoring the significance of maintaining the democratic process in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Coordination Framework released a statement after its 224th regular meeting, which took place at the office of State of Law Coalition Chairman Nouri al-Maliki. During the meeting, the participants deliberated on the latest political and security developments within Iraq, as well as in the broader region and globally.

The statement highlighted the Coordination Framework’s firm stance that the legislative elections should occur on the predetermined date at the end of the year. It asserted that no party possesses the authority to delay or cancel the established electoral timelines and standards crucial for the electoral process’s success.

Moreover, the Coordination Framework urged the government to establish a conducive electoral environment, ensure necessary security measures, and extend support to the Independent High Electoral Commission. This, they believe, is vital to guarantee the electoral process’s success and integrity. The Framework also encouraged citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote, emphasizing the importance of choosing qualified candidates.
