Baghdad: Representatives of the Coordination Framework blocs and forces announced their rejection of any agreement or joint meeting held by the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Turkey without presenting the contents of the agreement or the objectives of the joint meeting to the Parliament Presidency and the relevant committees. They called for the questioning of the Foreign Minister to clarify the truth of the meeting and the agreement with the Turkish side, and to inform the public of the true results.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the Sadiqoun parliamentary bloc, Habib al-Halawi, stated in a joint press conference that Iraq’s sovereignty and the dignity of its people are of paramount importance to all Iraqis, including the government, citizens, and political forces. He highlighted that the nation has made significant sacrifices to defend its sovereignty and opposes any violations or transgressions, particularly from Turkey, whose forces have encroached on Iraqi territory. Al-Halawi condemned the Turkish forces’ occupation of vast areas as part of Ankara’s expansionist agenda and criticized the ongoing attacks on villages, mountainous regions, and agricultural lands, which have resulted in casualties.

Al-Halawi expressed surprise that the Iraqi government engaged in discussions and reached an agreement with Turkey on critical security and economic issues without consulting representatives and political forces, such as the Coordination Framework or the State Administration Coalition. He labeled this as a constitutional violation and emphasized the importance of Iraq’s unity and sovereignty. He called for the removal of all foreign forces occupying Iraqi territory and highlighted the necessity for Turkey to evacuate its military bases in northern Iraq due to the threat posed by Ankara’s regional projects.

Additionally, Al-Halawi urged Turkey to release Iraq’s full water share and desist from leveraging the water conflict to manipulate the livelihood of the Iraqi people and adversely affect agriculture and livestock. He stressed the importance of Turkey honoring its previous commitments, which have yet to be realized and remain unfulfilled. Furthermore, Al-Halawi called for the creation of a special investigative committee, comprising members of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, to verify intelligence and security information concerning the Nineveh Guard and Kirkuk Shield forces.
