Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired the Council of Ministers’ 40th regular session, focusing on administrative and financial reforms in compliance with Law No. 28 of 2019.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the session involved discussions on the country’s general situation and agenda topics, culminating in key decisions. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that Al-Sudani urged all entities to comply with the law concerning vehicle and protection allocations for officials, mandating the return of any excess within a week. Non-compliance will result in the Federal Board of Supreme Audit referring cases to the Federal Integrity Commission for investigation to safeguard public funds.

Al-Sudani also instructed relevant ministers and officials to form investigative committees in line with the State Employees and Public Sector Discipline Law No. 14 of 1991, as amended, to address violations and hold accountable those responsible.

In alignment with the government’s administrative reform priorities, the Council of Ministers approved the appointment of 15 general managers across various state departments. Additionally, the Council decided to relieve the General Manager of the Investments and Contracts Department in the Ministry of Electricity, demoting him to a lower position based on the findings of a special evaluation committee.
